Clank!

A deck-building dungeon crawl where you sneak into an underground dungeon with a sleeping dragon, steal treasure, and have to escape without making a sound. You use cards to move, fight, and buy cards at the market, but every time you make noise a clank cube goes into the dragon's bag and things get more dangerous. The deeper you go the better the treasure, but the longer your escape route — that tension between risk and reward is the core of the game.

Rules

1. Setup

Lay out the dungeon board, with the more valuable treasure spaces placed deeper in, and each player takes an identical 10-card starting deck and shuffles it well. Get several noise cubes in your color ready and note the area in the middle of the dungeon where the dragon sleeps.

2. Turn flow

Each turn you play as many of the 5 cards in your hand as you want to gain movement, attack, and buying power, then move through the dungeon spaces, fight monsters, or buy new cards at the market. At the end of your turn you discard the cards you used and draw back up to 5 cards from your deck.

3. Key rules

Every time you pass through certain spaces or make noise with a card or an ability, you must put a clank cube of your color into the dragon's bag. When you go deep into the dungeon or take certain actions, the dragon wakes up and attacks by drawing several cubes from the bag, and each player takes that much health damage for every cube of their color that comes out.

4. End condition

If you get hold of treasure and escape alive to the surface exit, you keep the full score for that treasure, but if your health reaches 0 before you escape, you count as dead and your treasure score is cut sharply. Compare the final scores of everyone, survivors and dead alike, and the highest score wins.

💡 Master tip

The deeper you go the more valuable the treasure, but your escape route grows just as long, so once the dragon starts waking up often, knowing when to drop your greed and head back safely matters. Trimming your deck down to quiet cards keeps clank cubes from piling up and raises your chances of surviving the dangerous moments.
