Top 8 · #3 of 19 in Co-op
A cooperative game where you play the island's native people and its spirits, driving off the colonial invaders who foul and invade the island with fear and magic. The asymmetry of spirits with very different powers, and the freedom they give you, have built a devoted following.
1. Setup
Everyone picks a spirit panel with its own abilities and you prepare the invader deck. Start at a low difficulty, and once you are used to the game you can raise the difficulty with invader and fear cards.
2. Turn flow
Each round goes: spirit growth (gain a card, energy, or presence), then play cards (fast powers), then the invader phase (Explore, Build, Ravage in that order), then play cards (slow powers).
3. Key rules
When the invaders ravage a land, the land takes damage equal to the ravage strength, and any surviving Dahan fight back and deal damage to the invaders. Build fear up to a certain level and the terror level of the invader deck rises, which works in your favor.
4. End condition
You succeed when you meet the fear victory condition (using up 3 fear cards), and you lose if the island fills with blight or a spirit dies.

💡 Master tip
Look for combos where several spirits pour their powers into the same land at once, and putting fear ahead of destruction is the better strategy for surviving the early game. Reading the invader cards ahead of time lets you predict the next land to be invaded and plan your defense far more efficiently.
If this one has gotten too easy, try these — same feel, one step up in weight.
