Decrypto
A demanding word code game where you pass codes to your own team while listening in on the other team's code system to take Interception tokens away from them. It goes beyond simple word association: as the rounds pile up it also asks for memory and pattern deduction, making it a brain-teasing party game.
Rules
1. Setup
Each team slots four keywords into a screen where the other team cannot see them, and each team gets a sheet for recording clues and the code cards. The two teams sit facing each other, close enough to hear each other's clues.
2. Turn flow
The Encryptor gives three clue words in order, matching a three-digit code (for example 3-1-4). Their own team listens to the clues and works out the code, while at the same time the other team tries to intercept by deducing the code from those clues alone.
3. Key rules
Each round the clues must point only to the keywords among your team's four that match the code numbers, and because the record of past clues is a lead for the other team too, clues that are too obvious are risky. If your team fails to work out the code you take a Miscommunication token, and if the other team intercepts successfully they take an Interception token.
4. End condition
The moment the other team takes two Interception tokens from you, or your team takes two Miscommunication tokens, the game ends immediately and that team loses.

💡 Master tip
It is good to set your clues by a consistent rule, one that is hard for the other team to deduce but that your own team can remember for certain. As the rounds go on you have to come at the keywords from new angles that do not overlap your earlier clues, or you will be intercepted.
